weltenbummler.info is a private, non-commercial site about travelling in my own vehicle: texts, photographs, maps, a data sheet. The German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) does not apply to it. I build it to be accessible anyway — and set out here, voluntarily, how far that goes.

How accessibility is implemented

The benchmark is WCAG 2.2 at level AA, as incorporated in the harmonised standard EN 301 549. It is built into the craft, not added afterwards: semantic, valid HTML; every piece of content is reachable without JavaScript — the gallery lightbox and the collapsing header on phones are extras, and everything works without them; full keyboard operation with a visible focus; sufficient colour contrast; every map carries a text description, and its figures sit beside it as text; the system setting “reduce motion” is respected.

Status and assessment

A self-assessment, not an external audit. Checked automatically with axe-core across every built page of both language versions (rule sets WCAG 2.0 to 2.2, levels A and AA), most recently on 23 October 2026. A tool like that catches only some of the criteria, so I checked the keyboard path, focus and screen-reader output by hand, on desktop and on a phone, most recently on 14 September 2026.

There are no known limitations at present: the automated check reports no violation on any page, the keyboard path is complete on every page and focus is always visible. Full conformance cannot be guaranteed without an external audit; I follow up on every report.
