The lines are my own records — GPS, and for the Lofoten trip, whose track was lost, the locations of the photographs; coastlines, national borders and the graticule come from Natural Earth (public domain) and are computed at build time into exactly the projection the route sits in. That way the ground fits the line, not the other way round. No map service, no tiles, no tracking — the maps are part of the page, not a window onto someone else’s.

Built by hand with Astro, in two languages — lean and fast. The typography does the work; a surveyor’s line runs down the right-hand margin, ticked at every section, and ties the pages together.
